1 & 2: Boston, MA
Dear Diary: Hooray! We made it! After our long flight, we checked into our Boston hotel and headed straight for Quincy Marketplace for dinner. The next morning, we went to a Welcome Boston meeting, where we got discount coupons for the Trolley Tour... it was great — we saw ALL the famous sights! Then, the kiddos wanted to visit the Boston Tea Party Ship and the Children’s Museum.
2 nights Boston.

* The Hilton Woburn is located approx 10 miles from downtown Boston, The hotel offers complimentary car parking and complimentary transportation within a 5 mile radius from 7am-10pm daily which can be used to take you to nearby restaurants, shopping malls and to Anderson train station, from Anderson train station you can take the Logan express shuttle to Boston Logan Airport or the train which will take you into downtown Boston.
Day 3: To Mid Coast Maine (112 mi/180 km)
Dear Diary: On the way to Portland, Maine today, we visited Salem, where the famous witch trials occurred, and Rockport a gorgeous village that’s an artist’s haven. We stopped at the outlets in Kittery, Maine, before we headed to Portland and the Old Port Exchange to feast on the local specialty — lobster... we all had one, even Caroline, who is usually so squeamish!

Day 4: To White Mountains, NH (107 mi/171 km)
Dear Diary: Today, we enjoyed the drive across Maine to the Mount Washington Valley, where we took a ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad. It was a great way to see the scenery – beautiful lakes and mountains, and Jenny brought the sandwiches which we had bought in North Conway, so the kids thought it was a great adventure.

Day 5 & 6: To Northern Vermont (130 mi/208 km)
Dear Diary: Today, we headed for Vermont. For the kiddos, the highlight of the day was the stop at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory. Jenny was wild about the Vermont Wildflower Farm, and I spent a few hours searching (fruitlessly) for “Champ,” the legendary creature said to live in Lake Champlain!

Day 7: To Connecticut River Valley, MA(174 mi/278 km)
Dear Diary: En route to Massachusetts, we stopped in Rutland at the Rocking Horse Country Store in Rutland. Here, is truly a shopper’s delight, featuring Vermont gifts and country collectibles. We got a real “taste of Vermont” in the Vermont food section with Vermont maple syrup and cheddar cheese. In the Berkshire Hills, we visited Hancock Shaker Village, a restored 19th century settlement - they were such incredible craftsmen!. Then we headed to Stockbridge, where The Norman Rockwell Museum houses many of his works.
1 night Connecticut River Valley.

Day 8: To Newport, RI (127 mi/203 km)
Dear Diary: This morning, we stopped at Old Sturbridge Village, a living 19th century museum, before heading to Newport, summer resort to America’s first millionaires. We enjoyed the drive along Ten Mile Drive, with its extravagant summer mansions, and then explored the restored water front’s shops and restaurants.
